Nancy & Bill met through mutual friends in 2007 and gradually developed a close bond over their shared love for the outdoors, water activities, and live music. Initially, they were hesitant to date and risk their friendship. Then one fateful evening on the dance floor, things took a turn (no pun intended) with a feeling and a kiss.. Over the course of fifteen years, they chose not to marry but lived together, cherishing their strong commitment to each other.
Nancy was surprised by Bill’s proposal on December 28, accompanied by Chris Stapleton’s ‘Joy of My Life’. Excitedly accepting, they decided to elope for a romantic and intimate ceremony, fulfilling Nancy’s dream of a beach wedding. After choosing Maui for the event, they selected Barefoot Weddings due to positive reviews, excellent photography, and attentive communication from Shane and Shauna, feeling confident about their decision. Opting for the date of 4.2.24 for its uniqueness and ideal timing, the couple eagerly anticipated their Maui wedding.
“We planned the whole event in three months and told only immediate family shortly before the trip. Affordable Barefoot Maui Weddings took all the anxiety and stress out of planning – they made everything so easy! We arrived in Maui on Friday, got our marriage license on Saturday, and were married on Tuesday. We headed to Makena Beach and met up with Shane along the way who led us to the magical Secret Cove. Wayne, the ukulele musician, and AJ, the very talented photographer, joined us, and we climbed up to the most picturesque location for our ceremony. As soon as we got settled, Shane immediately made us feel at ease with a conch shell blowing as a call to the divine and to summon all elements – air, fire, water and earth – as witness to our ceremony. Wayne said a beautiful Hawaiian prayer before performing our chosen songs throughout the ceremony – Stapleton’s ‘Joy of My Life’ in honor of Bill’s proposal, Elvis’ ‘I Can’t Help Falling in Love with You’ because, well Elvis!; and Brother Iz’s version of ‘Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World’ in honor of my Mom, Jo. During the ceremony, we got a visit from a monarch butterfly and we just knew it was a sign that my sister, Laura had joined us in spirit too.”
Bill and Nancy opted for the $1299 elopement package for their Maui beach wedding, which includes various features such as 100 photographs (30 edits), fresh floral leis, heart of rose petals for the beach ceremony, conch shell blowing, a sand ceremony with a souvenir Aumakua Dream Jar, and a certificate for framing. Additionally, they decided to enhance their experience with our talented ukulele player Wayne, who not only added a special Hawaiian element but also learned their chosen song, making the moment even more heartfelt and personalized.
