The couple then stands inside the heart of rose petals in the sand. Shane, our licensed wedding officiant, warmly welcomes everyone and pronounces that we are gathered here today in the sight of God to declare this holy union. He then talks about the deeper meaning and symbolism of the flower leis. The flower leis represent the fragility of life and the importance of taking each day as a precious gift from God!
The ceremony continues with thoughtful and heartfelt words about the power of love and the sacred nature of marriage.
As the enchanting sound of ukulele fills the air once more the couple presents one another with leis and kisses on each cheek. The delightful smell of the flower leis surrounds the couple as the officiant begins explaining the meaning of Aloha and the importance of friendship, before asking our musician to give a traditional Hawaiian blessing.
Marriage should not be entered into lightly but reverently and holy. The covenant of marriage was the first miracle that Jesus performed when he turned water into wine at a wedding. The main body of the ceremony continues and culminates with 1st Corinthians…Love is patient, love is kind, love is not conceited nor rude…. Unity Sand Ceremony
After the ring blessing and exchange, the service will proceed with the sand ceremony. Like the unity candle, the sand ceremony represents the joining of your lives and the unique journey into one path that God has led you to be joined together as Husband and Wife. (If you like, this can be the perfect time to include children or grandchildren in this holy celebration of marriage and family.)
The sand is poured into a handcrafted, “Aumakua Dream Jar,” made by a local Hawaiian artist. This is a one-of-a-kind keepsake that serves as a physical reminder of your love and commitment. Once home if you like you can write down your prayers and put them inside the jar and then keep the jar inside your home. To keep your prayers, close to home.
The sacred celebration of matrimony is concluded with the Lord’s Prayer.
Conclusion of Ceremony & First Dance
The wedding service ends with you being declared Husband and Wife. The conch shell will then be blown and will reverberate across the beach. As the conch fades out, the ukulele begins to play once more, inviting you both to share your First Dance (barefoot in the sand) as a newlywed couple!
The ceremony takes 20 minutes on average if you add ukulele. Without ukulele, the ceremony is approximately 14 minutes.
The after-ceremony photography normally takes 40-50 minutes for the $1499 100 Photo Elopement Package.
Family photos, reenactments, and posed photos take place after the ceremony. The $1499 100 photo Elopement Package is chosen often when there is only the couple. If there are over five people we do recommend the $1799 200 photo package or the $1999 300 photo package.
IMPORTANT. With photos we try to take two or three images of each shot, and this includes the 30 to 50 pics that we take during the actual ceremony.
The 200 & 300 photo package also includes extras including…tropical flower spray for the bride, sparkling cider toast, family photos, and optional photography props.
